THE VISION

To be a lead department imparting quality and value embedded higher education and research emphasizing freedom of learning and practice.

THE MISSION

  • Transforming students into full-fledged professionals and to become leaders in dynamic global environment.
  • Augmenting knowledge and technologies in rapidly advancing fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
  • Promoting in depth research and create centre of excellence in thrust areas.

The discipline of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started under Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1971. After a long co-existence with EEE, due to administrative reasons and anticipated accelerated growth ,it is transformed and formed as the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering in September, 2011.

Intake:

At present the department of ECE is offering a B.Tech(ECE) programme with an intake of 60 , M.Tech (Communication Systems) with an intake of 24 and M.Tech (Signal Processing )with an intake of 24. M.Tech programme with specialization in Signal Processing commenced from 2013-14. Doctoral programmme offered by the department is attracting talented researchers and the research activity is in full swing.

Highly Qualified Faculty:

The strength of the department is its experienced and highly qualified faculty members. All the  faculty members are possessing PhD. in areas like Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Antenna Design etc. Currently two research projects funded by Central Government R&D agencies are in progress.

TEQIP:

The TEQIP-I programme has strengthened the department in terms of infrastructure and the procurement of advanced and costly equipment for various laboratories. The proposals for TEQIP II were also made to promote the quality of education and research at P.G and PhD levels.

Remote Centre, MHRD:

The department is having the Remote Centre of the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) and conducting several training programmes for faculty and students. Recently, Akash tablets were distributed to faculty members and some enthusiastic students under this programme.

INDUSTRY-INSTITUTE INTERACTION:

The department is closely working with National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL, Gadanki) and Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT:

Top class students who excelled in state-level entrance examination, EAMCET , are joining for B.Tech course in the department. With the training they receive in the department, they are performing excellently in competitive examinations like GATE,at national level. The ECE association is conducting invited talks , group discussions, paper contests to promote the academic zeal among the students. Students are getting good number of placements in companies like WIPRO, TCS, Intergraph, Infotech, TechMahindra, L&T etc..

PROFESSIONAL BODIES:

The department is interacting and conducting conferences and workshops in association with professional bodies, namely,

  • The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Tirupati Local Centre
  • Institution of Engineers (India), Tirupati Local Centre

CONSULTANCY:

The department is offering consultancy to Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in testing audio-visual equipment and to Amararaja Power Systems in testing Uninterruptible Power Supplies.
