The department aims at catering to the needs and aspirations of state and its development, reach to the world through state of art laboratories in cutting edge technologies of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and to serve the society at large.


  • To provide the necessary domain expertise and infrastructure to the students.
  • To make available the advanced laboratories, application oriented engineering principles for students and researchers.
  • To offer research and industry orientation to become successful service oriented technocrats.


The department of Electrical & electronics Engineering has made rapid strides in the field of teaching and research since its inception in 1959. The department offers B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with an intake of 60 ; MTech in Power Systems with an intake of 24. The faculty are well qualified and visited countries like USA, UK, Canada, Iraq and Malaysia. The department had produced 37 PhD degrees and 41 are in progress.

With well designed curricula and good laboratory facilities, sound theoretical and practical knowledge is being imparted to students. The EEE Association , with students as active members will conduct Quizzes, seminars, group discussions as regular programmes. To its credit, the association has successfully organized National level student paper contest SIGMOID for five times, and SPARX regularly every year.

Students of the department are securing top ranks in national level tests like GATE, IES consistently. A good number of students are getting admission in high ranking institutions in India and abroad excelling in GRE and TOEFL.

Three research projects worth 10 lakhs were completed. Faculty of the department is regularly attending conferences, seminars, and workshops. More than 300 research papers were published by the faculty of the department in various journals and conferences.

Currently the department is focusing on following areas of research :

> Power Electronics and Drives , Distribution Systems , Power Quality, Renewable Energy, Control systems 

BTech (EEE) Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs):

To prepare the students to understand and solve problems related to Electrical and Electronic circuits, Electrical machines, control systems, Power Electronics and Power systems by using the knowledge of basic sciences, Engineering and soft computing techniques.
To train the students in designing electrical and electronic systems and conduct experiments to analyze data and interpret the results.
To urge the students to actively engage in Electrical Engineering and multi disciplinary activities and to apply their knowledge and skills to achieve practical competency.
To inject into our students professional and ethical values, effective communication skills, teamwork and leadership qualities and the ability to relate engineering issues to broader social context
To participate with confidence and succeed in competitive examinations such as GATE, UPSC, and GRE examinations to get a good job / pursue higher studies
